Today I saw a floating head in a search query for “Google Plus Pages”. I actually thought a virus had attacked my computer, but notta…Upon reviewing, I realized that Google does in fact index “public” post’s within Google Plus. Take a look at the pictures below.

Ok, so here is what you are looking at, a Google +’er named Paul Allen showed up in a Google search query as you see here.

This next image shows that Google indexed, and cached his Google Plus post.

What does this mean?

  • If you choose to post your Google + post’s  publicly, you have a chance of your post getting indexed.
  • If your post is viral in nature, with lots of “shares” & +’s, then according to Google’s algorithm (as we know it today), you have a better chance at your post climbing in the SERPS
    • At the writing of this post his + post had 834 +’s and 1000 shares.
  • SEO is not dead, and Google’s social search is even more powerful.

I don’t know about you, but this is going to be a HUGE game changer. This is social search at it’s best! The fact that Google is giving you the option to post your post’s publicly, and get indexed into the search engines is a game changer, something Facebook will never do. (most likely) By Google allowing Plus post’s into the social search mix is just one of many game changers Google Plus is providing, and just wait until we see Google Plus business pages…who knows how that will play into Google’s new social search algo..

What are your thoughts?
