And that’s a wrap! The inaugural TEDxAirlie is officially down in the books! The city of Wilmington came together on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Thalian Hall and two livestream locations to celebrate ideas worth spreading at the city’s first ever TEDx event put together by local companies SISDigital, TekMountain, and Cloudwyze. The day kicked off with a talk by Adam Burk who helped listeners step away from their own reality and gain a new vantage point within the world in which we live. The day progressed with life-changing and mind-altering ideas about overcoming diversity in Wilmington, changing the traditional corporate culture and becoming data rock stars – and let’s be real- Matt Magne brought the house down with his electric guitar!

Kimberly Paul brought a new perspective on death and dying with her talk entitled “What Are You Waiting For?” Paul emphasized that, despite what we commonly think, we are all dying – even right now. When one nears the end of their life, they begin reflecting on forgiveness, love and life’s regrets, but Paul reminded us all to “make the end as beautiful as the beginning.Screen Shot 2016-04-13 at 12.53.22 PM Screen Shot 2016-04-13 at 12.55.29 PM

Sandy Carter, General Manager of IBM’s Cloud Developer Ecosystem and Startups and founder of the IBM Super Women’s Group, ended the event by encouraging women to enter the technology industry and by announcing the IBM’s latest endeavor, Hack4Women.

Following the extremely successful first TEDx event for Wilmington, guests, speakers, coaches, and the public were invited to Ironclad Brewery for a night of dancing, drinks, continued idea-sharing and a stellar performance from The Midatlantic

We will never be able to thank our sponsors, speakers, coaches, and team enough for making TEDxAirlie so incredible. Without you all, none of this would have been possible! Stay tuned for the video of the event in case you missed it- We can’t wait to wow Wilmington again in the future. Until next year, ILM!
