instagram stories close friends

How Marketers and Influencers can use Instagram’s Close Friends feature to their advantage.

This past week, Instagram’s Close Friends feature for Insta stories rolled out. You may have noticed that extra button when posting your latest story, or you may have accidentally clicked it several times thinking it was the “Your Story” button like I did! This new update allows you to give exclusive viewership access to only those on your hand-selected list. Each close friends update appears right in line with the rest of your Instagram story, but only your close friends can see the stories you post specifically for their eyes only. At first glance I ignored it and went about my day, then much like Raven Baxter when she has a vision, my marketing light bulb went off and I started to realize the potential this new feature had for influencers, micro influencers, marketers, social media managers and beyond. To the everyday user, this might just seem like an attempt for a Snapchat crossover or a pointless addition to the platform, but I see this as an opportunity online community influencers and managers can surely take advantage of. via GIPHY Here are three creative ways to use Instagram’s Close Friends Feature   Influencer Communities = Instagram’s Close Friends list. Some

5 apps you need as a social media manager

Are you new to digital marketing or switching up positions to a social media manager? Well, here is a list of apps you should download for a successful start.    Slack – Initially, Slack was listed last, but nothing is more crucial than communication with your team which is why we bumped it to the top spot. Slack allows for easy communication within your agency or department. You can also create sub-categories for anything on slack. Making sure there is fluent communication makes everything run smoother.   Google apps – While many of the Google apps play an important role in digital management, for the sake of time I won’t go over every single one of them. The key Google apps we use are Google drive, Google photos, and Google My Business. These assist with organization and headache prevention, and as a social media manager, you’ll appreciate this.    Snapseed – …or any photo editing app you feel works best for your market. We use a mix of Snapseed and RhonnaCollage to edit and watermark photos with our clients’ logos. If you’re on the go and can’t get back to the office to edit a photo before publishing it’s always good to double check the

Apple signs Texture, an Unlimited Magazine App – We put it up for review.

What started as a review of the mobile app Sip by Product Hunt, soon transferred to Texture – Unlimited Magazines app, which Apple recently bought. Texture is referred to as the “Netflix of Magazines.” We were testing out Sip when we read about Apple purchasing Texture, a digital magazine service created by Next Issue Media LLC.      So what is Texture? Well, it’s a lot like stated above, the Netflix of magazines. Categorized under news applications in the app store, Texture was developed by Next Issue Media LLC. For $9.99/month users have access to over 200 publications and some of their archived issues. Publications vary from Forbes, Glamour, to Fit Pregnancy and National Geographic Kids. Pros: 200+ Publications – I think the 200+ publications is an automatic pro, at least in my book. It has the most recent publications of each magazine but there are also older, archived magazines you can track back to if desired. Favorites list – Choose a list of favorites upon launching your account, allowing those to appear first in the “My Library” section of the app. The magazines can be changed at any time, you’re not stuck with them for life. Save for later – Save specific articles/stories to read later or

2 Steps To Social Synergy

Making your social media cohesive to your social setting. How do you get seamless branding through your social media platforms and your actual social setting? Whether your social setting be a shopping center, amusement park, or concert, how do you do it? Well, synergy. Creating synergy through both social media and social settings will create consistency for your brand. A simple definition of Synergy is the interaction or cooperation of two or more organizations, substances, or other agents. Which is what you want your social media and venue to do. You want them to work together to increase brand awareness and sell your product or service. But I like to think of word synergy in a naive manner. If you want to compose synergy then your social environment and social media should have, get this, similar energy = synergy. Your social media should reflect the feel, atmosphere, and personality of the environment your customer would be walking in to. It creates a wholesome branding. Here are two ways to implement synergy. In a recent Sprout Social session, Museum of Ice Cream’s head of content and social, Madison Utendahl, spoke about how creating content online should inspire action offline. Right off

Armed with a few simple skills and free online tools you can crushing our own SEO in no time. Here a are few key tips for getting started:   Research! Learn what keywords your customers use to describe your business Either through polls on site, face-to-face interactions, or competitor research, make an effort to learn how your customers are describing your product. Then turn around and use that same language on your site. Google has  some great toolstools you can use like keyword planner if you have an Adwords account. Target key words that are high traffic, but not ultra competitive! You don’t want to be fighting for the same keywords as huge companies, this will often find you relegated to the graveyards of the third and fourth pages of results. How You Can Master Snapchat for Your Business: 6 Quick Tips

Before we even start you need to figure out if you really need snapchat in the first place. It’s all the rage right now but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s right for you. If you are primarily B2B, or have an older core demographic you’re barking up the wrong tree.   Snapchats demographics are super young. 71% under 35, most under 24. On top of that, it’s hard to measure ROI on the platform, and driving traffic from it can be difficult. If it’s not for you don’t sweat it, there are a ton of other media outlets for you to work in. If you don’t already have Snapchat it takes 2 minutes to get started. Download the app on your smartphone, open it, and create an account. That’s pretty much it. Make sure you set ‘Who can view my story’ to ‘Everyone’   You’re ready to go!   Alright, the fun part. You’ve got Snapchat all set up and ready to go, but.. what are you supposed to do now? USING SNAPCHAT AS A BUSINESS     Show people behind the scenes Snapchat is all about uncurated unpolished content. Bring people courtside and behind employee only signs. Show

What To Expect From The New Instagram Algorithm

You’ve heard by now that Instagram is rolling out some changes. But what exactly are those changes? And what do they mean for you? If you’re the average Instagram user, chances are you haven’t noticed much change at all. Aside of course from the new flat logo and monochromatic interface. And if you are this average user, you don’t really have that much to fear by way of change. The users who are on the edge of their seats in light of this news are corporate account and brand managers. The new algorithm could have a huge effect on their ability to reach followers. In line with policy for other networks owned by Facebook, the actual algorithm itself has not been divulged. We do however have a pretty good idea of what it’s going to look like.   For the average user   Even if you only rarely use Instagram, and the algorithm change is news to you, you are probably at least aware of the changes to their visuals. The change in graphics tows behind it some massive changes in the math behind the user experience. These changes are likely going to make the user experience more like that
